I love the Bb. Pilipinas National Costume competition. This is the time local talents show off their designing skills and also a great time to see the candidates wear something that's of significant value to the country. What's interesting about the competition is that you'll see different interpretations to the local costumes... and here are my personal favorites:

I can't figure out which of these two's better. I love how Parul Shah carried herself in this muslim-inspired costume. I loved watching how she flawlessly and gracefully strut the runway and use to her advantage her props and body figure. Ladylyn Riva on the other hand wore a modernized version of a Filipiniana... a jumpsuit version that is, and I like it so very much every detail of it!

Laura Victoria Lehman and Pia Wurtzbach opted for the traditional Imelda dress in different silhouettes. I like the color and the deatils of both dresses. I like how these dresses aren't too over the top. Less is most absolutely more!

In contrast to Laura and Pia's costumes, these dresses worn by Kimverlyn Suiza and Hannah Ruth Sison are two modernized versions of the Filipiniana dress. I like how the designers took the risk in combining modern elements but still managed to make it look elegant. Both dresses were executed very well. Kimverlyn's is probably rooting for an edgier look although the dress would have been better minus the gloves. Hannah's is modern and classic (love the peplum!).

I don't know if I like these two dresses but decided to share it anyway. There are some things I like and don't like about these two costumes. I love the choice of color on Yvethe Santiago's dress. What I do not like are those ogranza appliques of the dress. It's too much considering how stunning the color is. I like Liezl Ramos' dress if only it were a bridal gown (minus the headdress and the feathers, of course). Wrong choice of color, I guess(?)
